Should I use GTM (Google Tag Manager)?

Unless you are using Shopify, GTM is the recommended method for installing the Taboola pixel.

This is especially true if your team is already using GTM.

If you are not already using GTM, you should still consider doing so for Taboola pixel. With GTM, you edit your website templates once. Thereafter, you can add, edit, test-drive, remove, or temporarily pause tags without editing your web pages.

Which tag types should I add?

To get the full benefit of Taboola Pixel, you should add 2 types of GTM tags:

  1. The base pixel

    Even if you are not ready (yet) to set up conversions, you should still install the base pixel. It enables Taboola to gather data about user behavior and optimize your campaigns accordingly.

  2. Event pixels

    These are the specific conversions that you want to track.
