Deleting a Creative

Delete a creative removes a creative from the Creative Library and stops every ad created from it, in every campaign.

DELETE /backstage/api/1.0/demo-advertiser/creatives/4321000001
{
  "id": 4321000001,
  "status": "TERMINATED",
  ...
}
🚧

This cannot be undone

  • All ads created from the creative are stopped immediately and cannot be restarted.
  • The creative's status becomes TERMINATED. It can no longer be read, updated or assigned; requests for its ID return 404.
  • Reporting data for the ads is preserved.

Before deleting

Check where the creative is assigned with Get a creative: ads.ads lists every ad that will be stopped.

If some of those ads should keep running:

  1. Create a new creative with the same content.
  2. Assign it to the campaigns that should keep running. This creates new ads, which go through review.
  3. Delete the original creative once the new ads are approved.

To stop the creative in one campaign only, do not delete the creative. Delete that campaign's ad instead, with Delete a campaign item. See Remove an ad from a campaign.

Deleting several creatives

Bulk delete creatives deletes up to 200 creatives, across accounts, in one atomic request. See Bulk creative operations.

Deleted creatives in listings

Get all creatives accepts a statuses filter. To list only live creatives, pass statuses=ACTIVE; to review deleted ones, pass statuses=TERMINATED.
